My Experience and Training

My counselling journey began with an interest in understanding the different theories and concepts that help to explain the dilemmas of being human, and use that knowledge to support people in therapy. Although I qualified as a Person-Centered therapist, I am constantly acquiring more knowledge and information, helping me to have a more holistic approach to understanding the human personality. Human beings are a combination of mind, body and soul…I believe that all are factors are a consideration in what makes us individually unique.

There is so much amazing insight and research out there which could help us to understand ourselves a little better...and help us to live with a greater autonomy over our emotions, behaviours and health...instead of being at the mercy of them e.g. neuroplasticity, epigenetics, psychoneuroimmunology, embodiment of emotions.

My training and experience is varied and I am always looking to acquire new knowledge and understanding. Regardless of what topic comes into the therapy room I am committed to providing a safe and empathetic space to explore, feelings, thoughts, and experiences. I draw inspiration from specialist and researchers from different fields such as; the works of distinguished minds like social scientist Arthur Brooks, psychotherapist Richard Schwartz Ph.D the founder of Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Bessel van der Kolk, author of the groundbreaking book “The Body Keeps the Score.” These pioneers have dedicated their lives to unravelling the mysteries of human emotions, resilience, and the impact of lived experiences.
